It was founded in June 2021 and Dr. RosaLyn Dressman was nominated as the as the Diaspora Focal Point Officer for Bayelsa State.
Yes it is a political apppointment usually tied to the office of the Governor. In some states, it is a full ministry.
We are headquartered in the State Secretariat. However, the officer could also be reached at her private office in Kpansia, Yenagoa
Given that the mission is relatively new, we are still in the formation phase.
The Diaspora Office is not there to replace any ministry, it it there rather to compliment and augment the work of the various ministries, Sensitising them on the importance and value of Diaspora contribution, Foreign Direct Investments in the state and also support development of new policies should the need arise.
